WHAT EFFECTIVE ROUTE GUIDES FOR NAVIGATION ASSIST?
This paper describes a study which investigated how people create and use external resources for navigation. Results from experiments showed that the most effective route guides were those which help people in forming useful cognitive maps of the environment. It was also found that a variety of representations and resources were used to develop the guides.
