ASIAN TIGERS : AWAKE BUT STILL SLEEPY
In this article, the author presents an overview of the progress in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) deployments in South East Asian countries. The author points out that the following factors have added to the demand for ITS: economic development levels; private sector strength; foreign direct investment; urbanization; car ownership; and upgrading telecommunications systems. The following areas are covered in the review: China and Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines; and, Indonesia.
