INNOVATIVE TRAIN TO BE UNVEILED AT INNOTRANS
One of the star attractions at the Innotrans exhibition in Berlin will be an experimental regional train called Coradia Lirex. The article looks at some of the technical innovations pioneered by the train, such as a dynamic flywheel energy storage system. The project's three main aims are: to realize the technical development potential of the rail system as well as to test and optimize innovative components in an experimental train; to develop a modular vehicle with low operating costs which can be applied to future trains; and to demonstrate what DB can offer passengers in the future.
