DB LAUNCHES RADIO-BASED TRAIN OPERATION
German Rail (DB) has launched a pilot project for radio based train operation, called FFB, that uses GSM-R (Global System for Mobile communications for Railways) for the transmission of safety vital data by radio and the Simis microcomputer safety system. This article provides a description of the project, claimed to be a world first.
