DUTY-FREE CONCESSIONS
Duty-free concessions are a fast-growing source of non-airline revenue for airports with international service, even for those with modest passenger volume. This is occurring despite a generally open global trading environment and modest reduction in cross-border duties on consumer goods. Moreover, the past 5 years have brought growth of international passenger traffic at a faster pace than domestic traffic. This review of duty-free performance measures draws from a number of sources on U.S. and non-U.S. airports, including data directly provided by airports, published airport information, and benchmarking studies.
