THE U.S. MOTOR CARRIER INDUSTRY AT THE MILLENNIUM
The important issues for the U.S. motor carrier industry in the next millennium will be substantially different than those in the past century. In particular, the industry will have to face the challenges of a competitive and continually changing market environment for freight transportation. This paper provides a brief introduction to several areas of crucial importance to both industry and policymakers concerned with the long term survival of trucking as a viable and efficient provider of freight transportation services in the future.
