ANALYSIS OF POSTAL TRAFFIC AS THE BASIS FOR REDESIGNING POSTAL NETWORK
The analysis of traffic flows of postal items is an important prerequisite in improving the technology and/or redesign of the postal network. The basic modeling sequence is to optimize the traffic (postal) network structure for the identified traffic demand and the determined traffic flow matrix, respecting relevant requirements and limitations. This paper provides elements of a general approach to solving the problem and develops a concrete traffic matrix with data on postal-item flows. Elements are indicated for redesign of the postal network, which includes the positioning of nodes equipped by systems for the automatic handling of postal items.
