THEIR BROTHER'S KEEPER : OREGON TRANSPORTATION AGENCIES WORK TOGETHER TO IMPLEMENT ITS WITHOUT ADDITIONAL FUNDING
This article describes efforts taking place in the Portland metropolitan area in coping with increasing traffic congestion. It discusses how the various agencies in the area are working together in their Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) development activities. The gives an overview of the Transportation Portland (TransPort) ), a collaborative effort of various agencies and regional jurisdictions formed to implement the following systems: freeway management, traffic signal control, transit management, incident management, and multimodal regional traveler information.
