A STUDY ON DESIGN OF DYNAMIC ROUTE GUIDANCE SYSTEM USING FORECASTED TRAVEL TIME BASED ON GPS DATA AND MODIFIED SHORTEST PATH ALGORITHM
In this paper, the authors propose a design for a dynamic route guidance system which uses forecasted travel time based on Global Positioning System (GPS) data and modified shortest path algorithms. A specific method is used to forecast travel time and a modified shortest path algorithm is used to determine an optimal path route. The travel time forecasting model can be used in real-time dynamic optimal route guidance control systems and traffic signal networks. The shortest path algorithm can be used in real dynamic traffic networks with lane restrictions.
