FOR WHOM THE BURGER TOLLS : TOLLING TECHNOLOGY IS OPENING THE WAY TO ADD-ON APPLICATIONS, FOR EXAMPLE IN RETAILING
This article describes plans for establishing what may be the first North American effort towards deploying tolling technology in a retailing context. It discusses how McDonald's patrons in Orange County, California, will soon participate in an operational field test which will allow them to charge meals using FASTRAK transponders. The article also briefly describes how advanced radio frequency transponders designed primarily for automatic vehicle identification (AVI) applications have features that allow users to access to multiple applications.
