THE GRAND DRAW : FOR THE USE OF FLOATING CAR DATA (FCD) TO BE EFFECTIVE IT REQUIRES A LARGE NUMBER OF DATA SOURCES
In this article, the author focuses on the value of probe vehicles in providing traffic information. Referred to as floating car data (FCD), these units are useful only if the volume of buyers and users increases. The author proposes the concept of a National Traffic Lottery, designed as an inducement for drivers to use FCD units.
