SIMULATION OF TRAFFIC SYSTEMS : AN OVERVIEW
In this paper, the author presents an overview of the growth in the use of computer simulation in traffic systems. The history behind the growth is described, followed by a discussion of application areas. New trends and applications in traffic simulation are described including demand analysis, parallel computing, cellular automata, and rule based simulation.
