DEVELOPMENT OF DETECTION ALGORITHM FOR VEHICLES USING MULTI-LINE CCD SENSOR
This paper describes a lane change aid system which detects vehicles from behind with multi-line charge coupled device (CCD) sensors and then uses a head-up display (HUD) to inform the driver of vehicle location. The authors describe a detection algorithm which can both evaluate the reliability of each measured distance and distinguish vehicles from guardrails and white road markers. The performance of the algorithm in real traffic is discussed.
