INTERNET MULTIMEDIA ON WHEELS : CONNECTING CARS TO CYBERSPACE
In this paper, the authors present the concept of an "Internet Car." This concept features an onboard, integrated wireless communication system and computing infrastructure which provides Internet connectivity from a car to any specific server on the Internet. The car becomes like any other node on the Internet, possessing its own unique Internet Protocol (IP) address such as a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The authors describe their vision for such a car and the present a mobile systems design. They also discuss the benefits and major challenges involved in realizing and implementing such a system.
