ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECTS OF THE IMPACT ENERGY LOSSES OCCURRING BETWEEN THE BRIDGE DECK AND ABUTMENTS
The impact between bridge decks and abutments has been the source of extensive damage to highway bridges during the 1971 San Fernando and other recent earthquakes. In this paper, a preliminary study related to the effects of impact energy losses on the dynamic response of bridges is presented.
