STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND TESTING OF COMPOSITES IN AUTOMOTIVE CRASHWORTHINESS APPLICATION
Automotive engineers and the industry have been fully aware of the excellent energy absorption characteristics of composite materials in vehicle structures during vehicle collision. Yet there has been a lack of experience in the prediction of the crashworthiness of composites; this lack of experience has been a major problem for the application of these materials in automotive crash structures. The current progress in the prediction of the crashworthiness of automotive composite crash structures is presented in this paper.
