PREDICTION OF AIRCRAFT WAKE VORTICES DURING TAKEOFF AND LANDING, PHASE 4

This report outlines the background of two versions of the method of discrete vortices and their advantages and limitations in the modelling and simulation of aircraft wake vortices. The treatment of the viscous interaction with the ground is also described for each method. Results using version B in ground effect studies, with and without cross-wind, are presented, including the simulation of a real case and comparison with version A. Activities for the next phase of a wake vortex prediction project are also proposed.
