URBAN BUSES WITH HYBRID DRIVE SYSTEMS
Most European cities are experiencing increasing traffic congestion and with it, a deteriorating quality of urban life. To combat this, most cities have adopted effective ways to counter the trend. Not only the adoption of "green" technologies but a serious effort to encourage modal shifts from the private automobile to public transit, cycling and walking are being introduced. This publication provides valuable discussion about the state-of-the-art hybrid technology, identifies technical and financial opportunities as well as constraints, and presents several case studies as examples where innovation, foresight and planning are making a difference.
