CAVITY EXPANSION IN SANDS WITH CURVED ENVELOPES
The effect of a curved Mohr-Coulomb failure envelope on the bearing capacity of deep foundations in sands is considered by obtaining solutions to expansion of cavity problems. An analytic expression for a curved envelope is introduced, compared with experimental results and then incorporated in a computer program, EXPAND, to evaluate the expansion pressures. The results are presented in the form of tables and graphs suitable for applications. /ASCE/
