IMPROVE MACHINERY MAINTENANCE BY LUBE OIL ANALYSIS
Lube oil can reveal much about the condition of rotating machinery and the adequacy of lube systems and lubricants. This paper presents guidelines for chemical analysis of lubricating oils with particular attention to the application of spectroscopic techniques. It is demonstrated that oil analysis, along with vibration analysis and other techniques, can help greatly in allowing the machinery maintenance engineer to accomplish the goals of predictive maintenance.
