POLYMERS IN CONCRETE: WHERE HAVE WE BEEN AND WHERE ARE WE GOING? IN: POLYMERS IN CONCRETE: THE FIRST THIRTY YEARS

Polymers in concrete became first known in construction in the 1950s. Polymer impregnated concrete received considerable attention in the late 1960s and early 1970s as a material for repair, overlays and precast components. Polymer modified concrete found wide use for concrete repairs, particularly for overlays and for spray-on coatings. Also discussed is the application of monomers and epoxy resins for crack repairs. Paper will look at the future uses of polymers in concrete as new developments in materials as well as innovative applications will keep concrete polymer materials in the forefront of construction materials in the 21st century.
