The goal of the paper is to provide a history of polyester polymer highway and bridge deck overlay with a focus on the work done primarily in California. Reviewed will be the early work done at Brookhaven Labs, the watershed I-80 job done at Donner Pass, and the large number of successes over the last 30 years.
