HISTORY OF ACI COMMITTEE 548: THE PAST THIRTY YEARS. IN: POLYMERS IN CONCRETE: THE FIRST THIRTY YEARS
This paper presents a review of the historical development of polymers in concrete. Also presented is the history of ACI Committee 548 and its sister organization, the International Congresses of Polymers in Concrete. Polymer concrete, polymer modified concrete, and polymer impregnated concrete are the three categories of concrete that contain polymers. The Committee 548 was started in 1971, and its first undertaking was to prepare a State-of-the-Art Report on polymers in concrete, followed by organization of technical session at ACI conventions. The committee's formal activities include technical publications and sponsorship of technical sessions as well as proceedings of those sessions.
