SIGNIFICANCE DETERMINATIONS AND THE VIRGINIA DOT: THE PRESENT AND GOALS FOR THE FUTURE
This paper describes a process of determining significance of historic properties that often happens outside the federal process, but results in a consistent level of resource consideration in Virginia where historic preservation is an important cultural value. The author offers a variety of recommendations for improving the process of significance evaluation nationwide.
