AN ANALYTICAL DETERMINATION OF MAXIMUM TRAFFIC GROWTH
DETERMINAZIONE ANALITICA DEL LIMITE SUPERIORE DI MOTORIZZAZIONE
In this article a new method is presented for the mathematical determination of logic equation parameters as applied to the forecasting of traffic growth. The equation is based on the limited logic curve of Verhulst, Pearl and Reed, which postulates the increase of a generic population in terms of the hypothesis that this increase is a geometric progression through time and is opposed by a certain resistance. This resistance consists mainly of limitations to means of subsistence, and is directly proportional to the square of the population in question. As an example the method is applied to traffic growth in Italy between 1950 and 1974. /TRRL/
