VISIBILITY STUDIES OF SYMBOLS USED FOR TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN CONTROL LANTERNS
Symbols are becoming more frequently used in traffic and pedestrian control. Where a number of alternative symbols are available it is important to choose the best for a national standard. This report describes a number of experiments aimed at finding the best traffic arrow and pedestrian 'walk' and 'dont walk' symbols for use on signal lanterns. Different criteria for defining what is 'best' are used and discussed. (A) /TRRL/
