TRAVEL TIME SERVICE IN THE NETHERLANDS
TIC Nederland is an organisation set-up by the Dutch Ministry of Transport and the Dutch National Police Agency, for the collection, ordering and distribution of basic traffic information to private Value Added Service Providers. The requirements from the market are shifting towards real-time travel time information. As the monitoring network covers 95% of the 2500 km. of the Dutch motorways by the end of 2001, TIC Nederland asked the Transport Research Centre of the Ministry of Transport to develop a DATEX based system for the generation and distribution of Travel Time on the motorway network. The system is operational since spring 2001.
