WILL RAIL INTERCHANGES LEAD LIVERPOOL CITY CENTRE REVIVAL?
An outline of the new Merseyside Underground railway system due for completion by summer 1977 is given. The idea of the 'loop and link' system is to give people easy access to all parts of Liverpool city centre by getting people to make the change from bus to rail out in the suburbs. At the moment the number of potential users of the new system is thought not to be very great but the planners hope that the new system itself will help to initiate a revival in the city's economic fortunes and hence lead to a greater demand for public transport. /TRRL/
