CITY SCHEMES GO AHEAD
Banverket's new 12-year rolling investment plan is examined in this article. The plan includes vital schemes to improve traffic flows in two of Sweden's main cities, Stockholm and Malmo. The proposals include a rail tunnel beneath Stockholm's city center which will be operated exclusively by commuter services, and building of a completely new line in Malmo which will include 6 km in tunnel through central Malmo, to provide direct connection between the city and Oresund.
