SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY: COMMITMENT AND STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE FOR A TRANSPORT ASSOCIATION - THE ITALIAN EXPERIENCE
The paper reviews the progress made in Italy both in terms of efficiency and effectiveness of local public transport. Credit is given to the progress achieved in the field of sustainable mobility by the transport association ASSTRA. ASSTRA was created in 2001 by merging several associations with the objective of responding to the demands rising in the transport sector from the transition of market based public transport, transport sustainability from the economic, environmental, and social viewpoints to safeguard the interests of companies while also creating transport model that respects both the environment and the general public.
