MAKING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PRIORITY ONE
The term sustainable development was first considered at the Rio congress on Climate Change in 1992, and today it is in common use in almost all sectors, including transportation. This article's goal is to put sustainable development into context and firmly on the public transportation map. It examines what is relevant to public transportation operators, service providers or to other UITP members, and recognizes that sustainable mobility is a cornerstone of sustainable development.
