IMPLICATIONS OF GLOBALIZATION FOR CO2 EMISSIONS FROM TRANSPORT
Explored in this paper is the future of CO2 emissions, starting from four scenarios for global transport. The paper finds CO2 emissions increasing persistently, especially in the less wealthy areas of the world, by considering fuel consumption, energy efficiencies in transport, occupancy rates of transport means, size of cars on the market, and possible environmental policies. Policies that are under consideration in Europe that attempt to control mobility while also limiting CO2 emissions are expected to succeed in reducing emissions growth by about 30%.
