TRANSITIONS FROM GUARDRAIL TO BRIDGE RAIL
The paper presents design details and test results for three guardrail-to-bridge rail transitions that have passed the NCHRP test requirements. The transitions were a nested W-beam with W-beam rub rail and steel posts to the vertical concrete bridge rail. Design features that contributed to the successful performance of these transitions are discussed.
