YOUNG NOVICE DRIVERS: CARELESS OR CLUELESS?
As a group, young drivers present an accident risk that far exceeds that of any other group; on a per-mile basis, the non-fatal accident rate for a 16 year old is 10 times that of adults and almost three times that of 18-year olds. The objective of this study was to identify: behaviors contributing most frequently to the accidents of young drivers; and any subset of behaviors in which inexperienced young drivers were over-represented.
