MAKING A MOVE
The South Wye region of Hereford, UK, is physically isolated from the rest of the city and has been labelled as deprived. The main river bridge linking the area to the city centre suffers from severe traffic congestion. Herefordshire County Council is working with the South Wye Regeneration Partnership on projects to improve transport. The 'WyeS Moves' project will introduce new flexible bus services for the community following a household survey on transport which indicated a need for better links between estates, a supermarket, employment opportunities and community facilities. JMP Consultants formulated the Urban Bus Challenge bid and will manage the implementation of the proposal. The new service will offer a mix of fixed route and demand-responsive elements. A bookings centre will be developed in the area.
