TRAINS REPLACE TRAMS UNDER BRUSSELS
After a lengthy build-up time with pre-metro operation, this month sees inauguration of full metro services on the central east-west line of the Brussels rapid transit network from Place St. Catherine to Tomberg and Beaulieu. G. Cudell, Chairman of the Brussels Metro Authority, explains that plans for two eastward extensions of the metro are at an advanced stage, but indicates that further metro construction is unlikley in the foreseeable future.
