Greater achievements in offshore pipelining occur during each construction season. These achievements are the result of a long sequence of developments, some of which are described in this article. They include: aggressive design of large size pipeline systems in deeper water, the availability of high-quality pipe, substantial progress in automatic welding, excellent performance of pipe-laying barges, underwater connections of pipelines, and better knowledge of all logistic problems involved in such large-size operations.
