FREIGHT OPERATORS' PERCEPTIONS OF CONGESTION PROBLEMS AND THE APPLICATION OF ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES: RESULTS FROM A 1998 SURVEY OF 1200 COMPANIES OPERATING IN CALIFORNIA. IN: TRANSPORT LOGISTICS
The paper reviews results from a 1998 survey on freight operators' perceptions of congestion problems and application of advanced technology; and the use and perceived efficiency of maritime, rail and airfreight intermodal facilities. The survey of 1200 California companies was conducted as a computer-aided telephone interview, and it dealt with five main topics: traffic congestion; reactions to possible ways of relieving congestion; use and usefulness of possible information technologies; use and efficiency of intermodal terminals in California; and operational characteristics.
