INNOVATION OF TURNOUT AND SWITCH MACHINE SYSTEM - NEXT GENERATION TURNOUT (NGT)
The paper discusses the development of a "next generation turnout/switch machine" to be used to prevent the occurrence of a turnout or switch machine failure and to minimize the maintenance effort. The final prototype of the next generation turnout/switch machine was installed at turnout 80A located in the yard of Omiya Station in February 2002. The system has been working satisfactorily since that time.
