GROUNDWATER CONTROL FOR UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION

The author gives an account of the two most popular methods of groundwater control, those of grouting and ground water lowering. In both cases it is stated that an adequate site investigation is imperative for their successful design and the information required is discussed. An outline is given of the various techniques including suspension grouts, solution grouts, injection methods, well points, deep wells and shallow wells, with examples of their application being given. An appraisal is made of the two methods and their relative merits under various ground conditions. /TRRL/
