THE ROLE OF TRANSPORTATION CAPABILITIES IN INTERNATIONAL SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT. IN: TRANSPORT LOGISTICS
This paper discusses briefly operational transportation capabilities such as: time compression, reliability, standardization, just-in-time delivery, information systems support, flexibility, and customization. Provided is a description of the methodology used to compare the supply chain structures and capabilities of approximately 2,000 companies from four industrialized nations: Australia, Japan, Korea and the United States. The paper sets forth the study results, conclusions and implications for transportation's role in global competition, and supply chain integration is also set forth.
