MANAGING ROAD SAFETY IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES
Road deaths and injuries have continued to grow in Third World countries because of inadequate investment in road safety. A review of road safety management was carried out, focussing on: how road safety activities are organised and co-ordinated; the role and effectiveness of road safety/strategic action plans; how road safety is funded; and the extent to which the business sector participates in and promotes road safety. Thirteen case studies from developed and developing countries were used to identify good practice. The key points for road safety plans are listed. For the covering abstract see ITRD E118297.
