PRIVATE FUNDING OF TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE UPDATE (1999-2003)

This issue of Current Topics includes over 85 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on financing transport infrastructure by private organisations or public private partnerships. Examples are given of case studies and discussions in Developed Countries, and also increasing numbers of Developing Countries. The building and operation of roads (especially tolled motorways), bridges, tunnels, light and heavy rail systems and traffic control centres are included. New developments include use of private organisations to maintain highways and street lighting. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1999 and 2003. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database.
