TRANSPORT SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR PEOPLE WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES
This paper presents an Australian guide for the use of operators responsible for ensuring the safe and comfortable seating of school students with disabilities in motor vehicles. It is in tick-off format, combining points from the three appropriate Australian standards. The guidance sheets cover the vehicle, restraints for wheelchairs, design of wheelchairs used in vehicles, disabled passengers using vehicle seats, access to vehicles (hoists and ramps) and personal information on the traveller.
