THE APPLICATION OF GPS TO ITS
This paper focuses on the application of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). It first gives an overview of ITS, followed by a discussion of GPS and how it can be used in vehicle tracking, route planning and navigation information inquiry, telephone command centers, and emergency rescue. The paper then describes the application of GPS to an intelligent public transit dispatch system in Beijing.
