EVALUATION OF AN EPOXY-BONDED STEEL PLATING SYSTEM FOR STRENGTHENING BRIDGE DECKS
Epoxy bonding of steel plates on top of a bridge deck has been used to increase load capacity of bridges. This paper evaluates the epoxy bonding by comparing the performance of the bonded system for control specimens and that of the cycled/loaded specimens when the steel plate was loaded to shear failure. Both the magnitude of shear strength as well as the mode of failure were used when comparing the performance of epoxy bond under different conditions.
