LONG FIBER PP-GLASS COMPOSITES FOR THE DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING OF A RECYCLABLE SAIL BOAT. IN: MARINE TECHNOLOGY V
The paper describes the vacuum bag processing of a recyclable sailboat with thermoplastic long fiber PP-glass (polypropylene) composites. The preliminaty analysis of the resistance welding process showed that carbon fibers can be used as heating element with a potential benefit of the joint strength. An additional analysis of the relationship between mechanical properties and different thermal histories was evaluated on a laboratory scale in order to optimize the process conditions during moulding of the different boat parts.
