WHEEL/RAIL INTERACTION IN A LIGHT-RAIL TRANSIT SYSTEM
An investigation of the behavior of light rail transit vehicles on standard gauge track is described in this paper. A special emphasis is based on the condition of the wheels, rails, equipment and track parameters that contribute to wheel/rail dynamics that in turn affect ride quality. The purpose of the study was to provide recommendations to the transit as to the least-cost solution to ivercome the current problems of excessive hunting and to improve ride quality.
