MATERIAL TOXICITY TEST ISSUES IN ROLLING STOCK PROCUREMENTS
The paper examines the material toxicity issues by reviewing the basis for quantitative requirements and its significance to rolling stock. Also examined are the test methods commonly specified in rolling stock procurement specifications, the variations in specified performance criteria, and provided are insights on the correlation between test results and specification requirements. Also summarized is the need for transit industry to consider reviewing/standardizing the specifications of toxicity requirements.
