BAY AREA RAPID TRANSIT DISTRICT SYSTEM CAPACITY STUDY
The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) is conducting a System Capacity Study (SCS) in anticipation of future ridership growth. The purpose of the study is to determine the passenger carrying capacity limitations of the current system, and identify capital investments expected to be necessary over the next 30 years to provide high quality service. The paper presents a summary of the goals, organization, methods, conduct, findings and future directions of the ongoing study. Agencies considering or conducting similar studies should find this paper of interest.
